Tell us a little about you

Hello sproos! friends! I am a serial “sprucer” located in NYC. My experience in real estate (and my mother’s fabulous eye) has revealed my true love for interior design.

What was the vision for your winning design in this challenge?

My vision for this challenge was to create a serene, minimalist bathroom that embraced the Mondrianesque color pops from the sproos! shower system. I had to go mod! Blue tile grout gives the white shower some contrast and Lichtenstein pop art completed the aquatic/feminine vibe I was going for.

What does your relationship to color look like?

I adore color. Especially color drenching and patterns. My favorite colors are white, pink, black, blue and red.

What’s your most prized possession at home?

My most prized possession at home is a Barney-colored upholstered waterfall bench. I never even liked purple but I had to have it and it inspires me to use color!

Can you share three tips for creating a show stopping bathroom?

✅ Beautiful tile
✅ Less is more
✅ Personality

A MAXIMALIST DREAM By Lisa Chaves, NY

A MAXIMALIST DREAM
By Lisa Chaves, NY

Tell us a little about you

My name is Lisa and I live in the Hudson Valley in NY. Like many others, over the last few years, I went from working Monday through Friday in an office setting to working remotely. Working from home has transformed not just my professional approach but, spending so much more of my time in my home, pushed me to rethink what my space looks like and how I use it. Room by room, I have reimagined my environment to not only fit the new needs of my family, but also continue to make it beautiful and inspiring.

What was the vision for your winning design in this challenge?

Stripes, stripes, stripes! In my opinion stripes are neutral. I was inspired by the idea of pattern mixing and playing with scale. Also, the pop of color trend, “unexpected touch of red,”  worked so well with sproos! Stayin’ Connected in red!

What does your relationship to color look like?

I love color, but mostly tend to stick to neutrals in my interior designs. There are specific rooms that I’ll lean in more with bright (like kids rooms), but for the most part, I gravitate towards muted greens, navy, golds, warm browns and creamy whites.

What’s your most prized possession at home?

A vintage mid century wooden dining table that a friend of mine thrifted for $15. She didn’t have a need for it and generously gave it to me when I bought my home. It is such a great reminder that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get what you want, you just have to know where to find it or have a very kind friend with a keen eye.

Can you share three tips for creating a show stopping bathroom?

Functionality is important when it comes to designing any space, but the bathroom is one of the most functional rooms of the house– so it’s crucial here. Thinking through where you’ll keep your serums, toothbrushes, clean towels, used towels is more than half the battle for a beautiful space. Once that’s sorted, it's all fun stuff! I gravitate towards a fun tile, a girly mirror, some soft textures, bright patterns, and a quirky art print that speaks to you!

A RETRO-RED PARADISE By Daniela Ulloa Villarreal

A RETRO-RED PARADISE
By Daniela Ulloa Villarreal

Tell us a little about you

My name is Daniela, I’m a licensed architect with a degree in interior design. I was born on the Texas border and have been residing in Mexico City for the past couple of years. Over the last decade, I have been actively involved in the interior design industry. I began my career as a Sales Designer for prestigious Italian furniture brands. Currently, I hold the position of Head of the Rendering Department at Form Kitchens.

What was the vision for your winning design in this challenge?

Upon discovering the design challenge and discovering the sproos! ethos, I observed that color plays a significant role in distinguishing this brand from others. I knew from the outset that my design should incorporate captivating pops of color while maintaining cohesion with sproos! bath accessories.

What does your relationship to color look like?

I grew up in a very traditional Mexican household where my mother had a passion for decorating our home with the most unique and colorful Mexican crafts. Through her influence, I learned the power of color in making designs stand out and creating a unique atmosphere.

What’s your most prized possession at home?

There’s a few items that hold great value for me. One is a painting at home from 1977 created by my grandmother, who introduced me to the world of art during my childhood. I also have a vintage TV from the 1950s that I use as a nightstand. I cherish a collection of around 40 coffee mugs that I've gathered since my youth. Each mug has a unique design and holds special memories from various places and moments throughout my life.

Can you share your tips for creating a show stopping bathroom?

Prioritize functionality! Determine the best way to utilize the space effectively, regardless of its size.

Next, define your palette of finishes. Select a finished palette and identify a key finish that will play a central role in your design.

Lastly, Coordinate Bathroom Accessories: Choose bathroom accessories that harmonize with each other in terms of color, finishes, scale, and proportion. Ensure they complement and enhance the overall design scheme.
