How The sproos! Moving Kit Works
One of the core promises of the sproos! slide bar has always been that it's designed to leave with you. The adhesive mounts hold firmly during daily use but are engineered to release cleanly from compatible surfaces when it's time to go. The Moving Kit is the second half of that promise — fresh mounts and adhesive so the bar installs just as securely in your next bathroom as it did in your first one. Here's everything you need to know about choosing the right kit, removing your bar, and getting it back up in your new place.
Circle Mounts Or Rectangle Mounts: Which Kit Do You Need
The sproos! Moving Kit comes in two versions: Circle Mounts and Rectangle Mounts. The difference is the shape of the adhesive mount that attaches the slide bar bracket to your shower wall. Circle mounts are used in the current generation sproos! slide bar (version 1.1 and newer). Rectangle mounts fit the earlier slide bar generation. To check which version you have, look at the base of the brackets currently adhered to your shower wall — if the adhesive pads are circular, order the Circle Mounts kit; if they're rectangular, order the Rectangle Mounts kit. If you're unsure, the sproos! team can help you identify the right version before you order. Both kits are $29 and include everything needed for a full reinstall.
What's Included In The Moving Kit
Each Moving Kit contains fresh tesa® Power.Kit adhesive mounts in the correct shape for your slide bar version. The adhesive is the same high-performance, renter-friendly formula used in the original installation — designed to bond firmly to tile, glass, metal, stone, and smooth plastic shower enclosures, and to release cleanly without wall damage when the time comes again. The slide bar itself, the hand shower holder, and all other hardware are fully reusable — only the adhesive mounts need replacing between moves. The kit gives you exactly what needs to be fresh without replacing what doesn't.
How To Remove Your Slide Bar Without Damaging The Wall
Removing the sproos! slide bar is a slow-and-steady process that rewards patience. Use the included putty knife to work into the edge of the adhesive mount, rocking it gently back and forth and working inward from the sides or bottom — not straight in from the top. Once the adhesive begins to release, it will lift away more smoothly. Any adhesive residue remaining on the wall can be removed with a razor blade held flat against the surface, or with a non-metal scrub pad. A damp cloth with a small amount of baking soda handles any light marks. Work slowly, keep the blade flat, and avoid using any sharp-edged tools that could scratch tile. The adhesive is not reusable once removed — which is exactly why the Moving Kit includes fresh mounts for the next install.
Reinstalling Your Slide Bar In Your New Home
Once you're in your new place, reinstalling the slide bar follows the same process as the original install. Clean and dry the wall surface thoroughly — the adhesive needs a clean, grease-free surface to bond correctly. Apply the fresh mounts from the Moving Kit to the slide bar brackets, position the bar at your preferred height, press firmly and hold for the recommended time, then allow the full cure period before loading the bar with accessories or the hand shower. Full step-by-step video instructions are on the sproos! website and referenced on the packaging. The slide bar bracket and hand shower holder are reused from your original setup — only the adhesive mounts are replaced.
Compatible Surfaces For Reinstallation
The tesa® Power.Kit adhesive in the Moving Kit bonds to the same surfaces as the original install: tile, smooth stone, marble, glass, metal, concrete, and smooth plastic shower enclosures. It does not adhere to painted surfaces, wallpaper, drywall, textured or uneven surfaces, or soft plastics. If your new bathroom has a different wall type than your previous one, check compatibility before installing. If you're unsure, sproos! support can help you assess before you commit. Using household tapes or non-sproos! adhesives as a substitute is not recommended — most are not rated for the wet, humid environment of a shower and can cause wall damage or installation failure.
When To Buy The Moving Kit
The best time to order the Moving Kit is before you start removing your slide bar — not after. Once the mounts are off and you're in the middle of a move, the last thing you want is to wait for delivery before you can get your shower back up in your new place. If you know a move is coming, add the Moving Kit to your cart when you're packing. At $29, it's the most straightforward way to protect your investment in your sproos! setup and make sure your next bathroom feels like home from day one.
Frequently Asked Questions About The Moving Kit
How Do I Know If I Need Circle Or Rectangle Mounts
Check the adhesive pads at the base of your slide bar brackets — the parts currently stuck to your shower wall. If they are circular, order the Moving Kit - Circle Mounts. If they are rectangular, order the Moving Kit - Rectangle Mounts. Circle mounts are used on the current slide bar generation (1.1 and newer); rectangle mounts are for the earlier version. If you can't tell from the wall, take a photo and send it to sproos! support — they can confirm which kit you need before you order.
Can I Reuse The Original Adhesive Mounts
No. The tesa® adhesive mounts are designed for one-time use. Once applied and removed, they will not hold as securely in a second install. The Moving Kit provides fresh mounts specifically so your reinstall is as reliable as the original. Reusing spent mounts or substituting household adhesives risks the bar not holding correctly and is not recommended.
Will The Slide Bar Come Off My Wall Without Damage
Yes, on compatible surfaces — tile, smooth stone, marble, glass, metal, and smooth plastic enclosures. The tesa® Power.Kit adhesive is engineered to release cleanly from these surfaces when removed correctly using the putty knife technique. Any residue left behind can be removed with a flat razor blade or non-metal scrub pad. The adhesive is not suitable for painted drywall or textured surfaces, and removal from incompatible surfaces may cause damage. If you're unsure about your wall type, contact sproos! support before removing.
Does The Moving Kit Work With The Hand Shower Too
The hand shower disconnects from the shower arm by hand — just unscrew the hose connection, replace the original shower head, and pack the sproos! hand shower, hose, and bracket separately. No adhesive or special kit is needed for the hand shower itself. The Moving Kit is specifically for reinstalling the slide bar wall mounts in your new bathroom.
What If My New Bathroom Has A Different Wall Surface
Check compatibility before you install. The tesa® adhesive works on tile, smooth stone, marble, glass, metal, concrete, and smooth plastic shower enclosures. It does not adhere to painted surfaces, wallpaper, drywall, or textured surfaces. If your new bathroom has a surface type not on the compatible list, reach out to sproos! support before attempting the install — they can advise on whether it's likely to work and what your options are.
What If My Original Installation Didn't Stick Properly
If your original slide bar install had adhesion issues, the Moving Kit alone may not resolve the underlying problem. Reach out to sproos! support before reordering — they can help troubleshoot whether the issue was surface preparation, humidity during install, wall compatibility, or something else. Getting the diagnosis right first saves time and ensures the reinstall holds.
Do I Need Any Tools To Reinstall With The Moving Kit
No. The reinstallation process is tool-free. The slide bar brackets clip onto the fresh mounts by hand, and the hand shower reconnects to the shower arm by hand-tightening. A putty knife is useful during removal (included with the original slide bar or shower kit), but the Moving Kit itself is designed for a clean, tool-free reinstall. Full video instructions are available on the sproos! website.
